Precision 5-Axis CNC Machining Services

CNCPOR delivers precision 5-axis CNC machining services for complex parts with tight tolerances. Our advanced multi-axis machining capabilities enable the production of intricate geometries that traditional 3-axis machining cannot achieve. With state-of-the-art equipment and expert engineers, we provide superior machining solutions for aerospace, medical, automotive, and other industries requiring high-precision components.

What is 5-Axis CNC Machining?

5-axis CNC machining is an advanced manufacturing process that allows the cutting tool to move simultaneously across five different axes. Unlike conventional 3-axis machining that operates along the X, Y, and Z linear axes, 5-axis machining adds two rotational axes (A and B, or B and C). This enhanced capability enables the cutting tool to approach the workpiece from virtually any direction, creating complex geometries in a single setup.

How 5-Axis CNC Machining Works

In 5-axis CNC machining, computer numerical control (CNC) directs the precise movements of the cutting tool. The machine interprets CAD/CAM programs to guide the tool along five axes simultaneously:

This configuration allows the tool to maintain optimal contact with the workpiece at all times, resulting in superior surface finishes and the ability to create complex features in a single setup.

Types of 5-Axis Machining

CNCPOR offers two primary types of 5-axis machining:

Simultaneous 5-Axis:

All five axes move concurrently, enabling the creation of complex contoured surfaces with superior finishes.

3+2 Positioning (Indexed):

The two rotational axes position the cutting tool at a fixed angle, then the three linear axes perform the cutting. This approach offers enhanced stability for certain applications.

Our expert machinists determine the optimal approach based on your part requirements, balancing precision, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Advantages of 5-Axis CNC Machining

Enhanced Precision

Our 5-axis CNC machining services deliver exceptional accuracy with tolerances as tight as ±0.0005 inches. By reducing the number of setups required, we minimize the potential for human error and alignment issues, resulting in superior dimensional accuracy for your complex parts.

Complex Geometries

Create intricate shapes, undercuts, and compound angles that would be impossible with conventional machining. Our 5-axis technology can produce parts with complex contours, deep cavities, and features on multiple faces in a single setup, expanding your design possibilities.

Superior Surface Finish

The ability to maintain optimal tool-to-part orientation allows our 5-axis machines to achieve exceptional surface finishes. The cutting tool can always approach the workpiece at the ideal angle, reducing the need for secondary finishing operations.

Reduced Setup Time

With 5-axis machining, we can complete your parts in a single setup rather than multiple operations. This significantly reduces production time, minimizes handling, and lowers the risk of errors, resulting in faster turnaround and more consistent quality.

Yes. Compared with three-axis machining, five-axis CNC machining can complete multi-face machining of complex parts in one clamping, reducing positioning errors caused by multiple clamping operations, thus being more conducive to ensuring the machining accuracy of parts with high precision requirements.

Yes. As long as the special materials provided by customers are machinable, we can carry out five-axis CNC machining. Before processing, we will analyze the materials to understand their characteristics and formulate special processing techniques and schemes to ensure that the processing effect meets the requirements.

The cost of five-axis CNC machining can be reduced from the following aspects: optimize the part design, simplify the part structure and reduce unnecessary processing procedures; select materials reasonably and choose cost-effective materials on the premise of meeting the use requirements; increase the processing batch, as mass production can reduce the processing cost per unit product; plan production in advance to avoid additional costs caused by urgent orders; maintain long-term cooperation with processing manufacturers, which may obtain certain price discounts.

If it is due to our processing errors, we will rework or reprocess for free until the parts meet the requirements; if it is due to errors in the drawings or information provided by the customer, we will negotiate a solution with the customer and determine whether additional charges are needed according to the actual situation.

Parts with a length range of 0.5mm-3000mm and a weight range of 0-500kg can be processed. For ultra-large parts (over 1000mm), gantry-type five-axis machine tools are used. For micro parts (such as medical micro-components), high-precision spindles (with a speed of up to 40000rpm) are equipped to ensure processing stability.

Free DFM service is provided. An optimization report will be issued within 2 working days after receiving the drawings, including suggestions for simplifying processing procedures and reducing costs (such as changing deep holes to stepped holes, replacing non-standard tools with standard tools, etc.), with no additional charges.

There is no minimum order quantity limit, and 1 sample can be processed. The sample processing adopts rapid prototyping technology, and production is arranged with priority, with a delivery time of 3-5 days.

Yes. Cooperating third-party testing institutions can provide services such as tensile tests, salt spray tests, and hardness testing. We are responsible for coordinating sample submission for testing and following up the reports. The testing fees are borne by the customer.
